In response to the growing national food demand, global climate change challenges, and the effort to establish long-term food security for Indonesia, Gerakan Indonesia Menanam (GERINA) was officially launched on April 23, 2025, in Sungai Pinang Village, Rambutan District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra.
GERINA was initiated by Ustadz Adi Hidayat together with Mr. Setiawan Ichlas, Special Presidential Envoy for Economic and Banking Affairs, as a collaborative movement designed to raise public awareness, expand community participation, and strengthen research and innovation in food agriculture, particularly in food crops and cereals. GERINA represents a strategic initiative to accelerate the realization of Indonesia’s vision of Golden Indonesia 2045, with food self-sufficiency as one of its key pillars.
The launch event was attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, accompanied by several related ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Dr. (H.C.) Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Ir. Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto. The event was also attended by South Sumatra Governor Mr. Herman Deru and Deputy Governor H. Cik Ujang, along with provincial officials and community leaders.
In his speech, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of food security as a foundation of national sovereignty. He stated, “No civilization can survive without food, and no country can stand without food.” The President also expressed appreciation for the collaboration and commitment of various figures and agricultural practitioners who have taken initiatives to support the realization of national food self-sufficiency.
Ustadz Dr. Adi Hidayat, in his address, highlighted that the launch of GERINA represents a historic moment to unite the energy and contributions of all Indonesians in pursuing the vision of Golden Indonesia. He stated, “Food security cannot rely solely on the government. It requires synergy between government programs and the spirit of the people to achieve acceleration and collective success.”
Following the inauguration, President Prabowo and his delegation participated in a symbolic rice harvest and visited the GERINA partnership program exhibition, which showcased various agricultural innovations.
GERINA introduces a new approach to agriculture through two flagship innovations: SI CEPOT (Solusi Cepat Panen via Pot or Fast Harvest Solution Through Pots) and SI OPUNG (Solusi Olah Padi Terapung or Floating Rice Cultivation Solution). SI CEPOT enables rice cultivation using pots or specialized containers, making it effective for areas with limited land while maintaining optimal productivity. Meanwhile, SI OPUNG develops rice farming techniques using floating systems, making it highly suitable for swamp areas and flood-prone regions.
This movement also provides broad opportunities for participation from communities, organizations, and educational institutions to actively contribute to sustainable agricultural development. The main commodities prioritized by GERINA include rice, corn, and cassava, which serve as essential pillars of national food security.
Through collaboration, innovation, and education, GERINA is expected to strengthen farmers’ welfare, build a sustainable agricultural ecosystem, and establish a strong foundation for Indonesia’s prosperous future.
INDONESIA PLANTS, A BRILLIANT FUTURE AWAITS.
